Lending their talents to this year’s benefit are the McAvene brothers, Paul and Matthew of McAvene Designs. Creating a host of underwater sea creatures, puppets and seascapes. The McAvene’s have designed and built creatures and puppets for the “Super Bowl half time show”, The Disney Company, NBC-TV, Dreamworks, Universal Pictures, and the Jim Henson’s Muppets, among many others. When asked, Paul McAvene said, “The hardest part about designing for this type of production is the myriad of factors that go into creating creatures on this grand scale. You’ve got to consider weight, durabiltity, aerodyamics, cost, function and aesthetics. We use everything from aircraft technology to popsicle sticks to get the effects you’ll see in this show.”
